Joel Smernoff
Joel Smernoff (b. July 1965 in Washington, DC) is currently the President and COO of Paltalk, a video-based, socialcasting community. Joel has worked over 15 years in the technology and digital media industry including helping run AOL's first brand extension, AOL for Small Business, and has held executive positions at Netscape, several other tech startups and Fortune 500 companies.
Joel has been quoted by the media regarding the development of online video as well as current trends in new media including appointment viewing on the Web , and The Intersection of social networking and video chat . Joel has worked to promote live, interactive video programming online such as LateNet with Ray Ellin, Music Scene and Hollywood Now hosted by Rocketboom host Joanne Colan.
Joel is also one of the co-founders of the New York Founders club, a bi-monthly meeting of executives in digital media and has been ranked among the most influential people in New York digital business for 2007 by Silicon Alley Insider
Joel graduated from the University of Michigan with both a BSE in Naval Architecture and an MBA in Finance. Joel is a member of the NYC chapter of the Young Presidents' Organization and sits on the boards of Ugen Media and Balance Integration.
