Stygian is an American heavy metal band from Langhorne, Pennsylvania. They currently have one album out, titled "Struggle," which was released in 2006.

Biography

Stygian was born in 1999 when Frank Leary, Steve Bacchia, and Mike Stewart met in school. Their first effort as a group was to learn as many Metallica songs as possible. After two years of covering Metallica, while giving their friends a good show, they pulled together their artistic talent and began to write original music. Stygian wrote, rehearsed, and refined their sound before they launched the new material live. Ed Sobon joined the band in the fall of 2003. 2004 was not an easy year for Stygian after having some difficulties with the direction the band was headed and what the roles of the members should be. They took the time, however, to get it right. Frank Leary emerged as the group's lead singer, allowing Mike to do what he does best by playing great bass and truly being a spectacle on stage. Ed also took some personal time to get things straighted out. Since then, Stygian has performed in shows all over the Philadelphia area and beyond. With more live shows in the Philadelphia region, people starting to take notice, and their fan base grew; and it keeps growing. Stygian released their debut album "Struggle" in the fall of 2006, receiving a global response. Through the power of the internet (Myspace, Stygianrock.com, and Itunes), they have sold over a thousand copies to loyal fans all over the world. They have been discovered by fans in the U.K., Australia, Denmark, Mexico, and beyond. Their live videos showcase their tight playing style, their love for the audience, and dedication to their fans. Stygian has headlined major venues and opened for national acts like SOil and Symphony X. Stygian is currently in a Bodog competition for a record label of $1 million.
