Goethe Business & Economics Group
The Goethe Business & Economics Group is a non-profit organisation, headed at the House of Finance of the Goethe University. Its current president is Phillip Chulyukov. The club was founded in 2009 by students of the faculty of economics and business administration with the name "Goethe Börsenclub".
History
The Goethe University had many different student clubs founded by members of the faculty of economics and business administration. Many of them closed between 1990 and 2010. An example for that is the club Mainhattan Invest. In 2009 students founded the Goethe Investment Fund, a student ruled non-profit organisation under German law with the aim to learn about fund management. Members of the managing board of the club founded the Goethe Börsenclub three years later in 2009 also as a non-profit organisation. The "Börsenclub" (stock exchange club) is a German equivalent for student finance societies, especially known in Anglo-American universities. In 2014 students of the Goethe University established the Goethe Financial Investment Group as a project at the faculty of economics and business administration. The two clubs and the project then merged the same year into one society, known as Goethe Finance Club. The name "Goethe Finance Club" was misleading because the by-laws of the club are talking about a club for "Wirtschaftswissenschaften" (business and economics).
In September 2017 the club changed its name to Goethe Business & Economics Group.
