''Evolution'' was composed for [[Sinclair Broadcast Group]]'s stations as a replacement for [[Stephen Arnold]]'s [[Sinclair News Music Package]]{{Fact|date=September 2008}}, composed in 2003 due to the company's purported hike in usage rates for all of Arnold's syndicated news themes. Although, Sinclair was planning an update of its on-air graphics.

Ironically, ''Evolution'' was composed for [[Dallas, Texas|Dallas-Fort Worth]] [[American Broadcasting Company|ABC]] affiliate [[WFAA-TV]] in 2004, which was based on the ''Spirit'' signature that station has used with all of its news themes since 1984.
