Dream pun

A dream pun is a pun that occurs in a dream. They are an important concept in dream interpretation. following Freud, Ann Faraday's book The Dream Game included a chapter on "Punny Things in Dreams". There are several different types of dream puns, including reversal puns (e.g. a person regarded as a "dozing bull" dreaming of a bulldozer). They may also play on homophones – e.g. a person worrying about passing bad genes on to her child may dream of wearing unfashionable jeans. The prevalence of dream puns may be reflected in the following joke:

A guy goes to a psychiatrist. "Doc, I keep having these alternating recurring dreams. First I'm a teepee, then I'm a wigwam, then I'm a teepee, then I'm a wigwam. It's driving me crazy. What's wrong with me?"

The doctor replies, "It's very simple. You're two tents."
