Film synopsis

They are internationally known as The Dirt Bike Riders, but in the Garden City of Singapore, they face difficulties gaining official recognition. They are made up of Singaporeans from different backgrounds, their age ranges from as young as five to 40 years old, united by the devotion to their passion.

Lacking the necessary facilities within their own country to hone their bike riding skills, they travel every weekend to race-tracks in Malaysia, to test the performance of their motorbikes, and to take part in various Motocross championships. This documentary is AbOUT people in pursuit of their aspirations and dreams.

Film director biography

YOUSRY MANSOUR A.K.A. YOUSRY ELSAYED MANSOUR

Yousry Mansour was born and raised in Egypt. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in film directing from The Higher Institute of Cinema in Egypt. Yousry worked in the Egyptian cinema industry between 1979 to 1987 and left Egypt to Japan to study Audio Visual Technology (1987-1988). Among his films: “Medea”, “Desert Drummers”, “Look at me” and a book, titled “The Cinema of China”. Yousry settled in Singapore by 1992 and in 2003 he became a Singapore citizen.

Director’s Statement

''When I first heard of the motocross riders who travel from Singapore to Malaysia every weekend to practice and compete in races there, I was puzzled. How many other talented people had no place and no recognition in their homeland?

''I felt this story must be told.

''It is the story of one type of the many unsung heroes in Singapore.
