On October 26, 2016, Sirusho released her new studio album, Armat. "Der Zor" is a story of an exile of Armenian nation and a million crying souls. Sirusho's research of Armenian Genocide became a source of inspiration for the lyrics and music for the song. It's about an Armenian girl who recalls her father's commandments and sings about her lost home.
Music video
A music video for "Der Zor" was released on February 19, 2017, and consists of two parts. The first part was shot in Los Angeles, California, and the second part was filmed at the ruins of ancient Armenian capital Ani. The video begins in an Armenian schools in Los Angeles where Sirusho is surrounded by students. They are representatives of the Armenian diaspora and the generation of the Armenian Genocide survivors. Filming the second part in Western Armenia was one of the adventurous challenges for Sirusho's team. The city of Ani (in region of Kars) carries a significant importance for Armenians. Despite centuries of abandonment, the city remains an inspiration for all Armenians. It's also called The City of Thousands Churches. Near one of them the filming process took place.
