Defiant Championship
The Defiant Championship is a world heavyweight championship promoted by Defiant Wrestling. The title was first established as the WCPW World Championship on the first episode of Loaded on June 15, 2016. Big Damo became the first champion after defeating Rampage in a singles match to become the inaugural champion at Build to Destroy on June 16. The championship has been defended in the United Kingdom, the United States and Germany.
Overall, there have been 7 reigns shared among 7 wrestlers. Title reigns are determined either by professional wrestling matches between wrestlers involved in pre-existing scripted feuds and storylines, or by scripted circumstances. Wrestlers are portrayed as either villains or heroes as they follow a series of tension-building events, which culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches for the championship. At 155 days Joe Hendry's only reign is the longest in the title's history. At 1 days Martin Kirby's only reign is the shortest in the title's history. Drew Galloway hold's the record of most defenses with 9 successful title defenses.
History
On June 15 at the first episode of Loaded WCPW announced the creation of WCPW World Championship. Big Damo became the inaugural champion after defeating Rampage at Build to Destroy on June 16. Originally when WCPW ordered the championship belt, the manufacturers thought that it was a title to play for the Youtube personalities, when WCPW discovered that the title was so small, the WCPW staff were shocked and they had to order a new one. It only arrived during Joseph Conners's reign. At the time WCPW on-screen general manager Adam Blampied comment that "It look like Damo had gone out to a local Toys "R" Us and got himself a replica of WWE one and painted at black". Conners was the first champion to defend the title out of WCPW territory on November 12, 2016. Drew Galloway after winning the title began defending the title in the United States first on January 21, 2017 and second on April 1. The title was then defended in Germany during Joe Hendry. Following the relaunch of WCPW to Defiant Wrestling, the title was renamed to Defiant Championship, which on-screen general manager Stu Bennett unvield at WeAreDefiant.
