Dear Mama (Blaxy Girls song)

Dear Mama is a rock ballade by Romanian all-girls group Blaxy Girls, wrote by Costi Ioniţă and released as radio single in January 2009. It was Blaxy Girls' entry at 2009 Selecţia Naţională for Eurovision Song Contest. The song finished in a tie for the second place with Catalin Josan's "Stop" with a total of 18 points.

Music Video

The music video was directed by Florin Botea. It was shooted in December 2008, at Bucharest and premiered on January 7th, 2009 on Romanian MTV. The music video presents the story of a girl (Rucsy) and her mother who are arguing everyday. Her mother forbiden Rucsy to hang out with her friends because of her behaviour. After her mother spanked her, she left the house crying. Eventualy, Rucsy's mother dies of unknown reasons. In the end, Rucsy brings a rose to her mother's grave.

Selectia Nationala video

Another music video was shot in early January for the Eurovision National Selection. The promotional video was aired on TVR 1, TVR 2, TVR 3 and other TVR channels all trought January 2009. In this video the girls are sitting on a black and white-squares floor. The same day, Blaxy Girls had a photo shooting for the Romanian Eurovision Postcards.

Live performance

Blaxy Girls performed "Dear Mama" in their 2008/2009 national tour and on the semifinale and finale of 2009 Selecţia Naţională. They also performed the song live in the club "Phoenix", in Constanţa and several other shows.

Charts performance

The song entered Romanian Top 100, reaching the top 10. The song spent a total of twelve weeks on Romanian Top 100.
