Cléston

Cleyston Hypolito de Oliveira better known as DJ Cléston (born November 19, 1968 in Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian musician. He is a DJ / percussionist, and a member of Detonautas Roque Clube.

Biography

In 1988, Cléston went to the United States to work. One night he watched a competition of DJs in the Palladium in New York City, and became interested to the craft. At one point Cléston bought two pick-ups and a mixer, and built a large collection of LPs. In 1995, he was presented to the Brazilian rapper Gabriel, O Pensador, and joined his band, staying there until 2002. During this period he also worked with artists such as Cidade Negra, Fernanda Abreu, Paulo Ricardo and Tihuana.

In a show of Gabriel o Pensador, Cléston met the independent band Detonautas, active since 1997. Shortly after the meeting he was invited by singer Tico Santa Cruz to join, and although initially considered "their sound was very 'heavy' to my style", Cléston accepted the invitation. In 2002 the band recorded their first album, and later became a great success. In 2007 Cléston released his first solo album, Lounge Vol 1, signed to Coqueiro Verde Records.

Cléston is well known for his participation in the soccer championship of MTV Rockgol, which he has been champion in 1997, playing for the Cidade Negra team. His acts as a goalkeeper (except in 2004, which decided to act in line to have been hurt in a game last year), with the narrator Paulo Bonfá, Marco Bianchi praising his performance with shouts of "Cléééston!" - the shirt of the DJ in recent championships have 3 "é". Cléston is supporter of Fluminense, and during his youth, played for the junior Portuguesa Carioca.
