Crunchies Fried Chicken is a Nigerian fast-food restaurant chain founded in 2003 and headquartered in Aba, Abia State, Nigeria. It is among the earlier entrants in Nigeria’s quick-service restaurant sector. The company is known for its diverse menu and its signature peppered chicken.

Overview and History

Crunchies was established in Aba and has since expanded across the South-East, South-South, and South-West regions of Nigeria. Crunchies outlets is currently present in 32 cities across Nigeria and the company employs over 2,000 staff nationwide.

The founding Managing Director, P. C. Ejiogu (2003–2013), oversaw the development of the company's operational structure and service culture. In 2014, Jude Nwosu assumed the role of Managing Director, leading a period of expansion and brand development. During his tenure (2014–2021), the company increased its presence across multiple cities and strengthened its position within Nigeria's fast-food industry.

Since 2022, Crunchies has been led by Muka Ohaeji, under whose leadership the company has continued its expansion, menu upgrades, and introduced digital innovations. These include e-commerce channels that enable customers to browse menus, place orders, and make payments online via its website and mobile application, as well as an automated WhatsApp ordering service known as Zee. The company has also expanded into emerging towns such as Ikom, Ogoja, Obudu, Ugep, Afikpo, and Ohafia, where organized fast-food options are relatively limited.

Over time, Crunchies has developed additional brands, including Roots Restaurant & Café and Bistro23, as well as the 3-in-1 Spot concept, which integrates all three brands within a single location. This concept has been introduced in cities such as Umuahia, Awka, and Asaba.

Corporate Social Responsibility

In 2016, the company constructed a water treatment plant in Enugu to recycle wastewater from its operations.

In 2022, Crunchies marked Children's Day by offering meal subsidies and discounted vouchers valued at over ₦10 million to children visiting its outlets.

In 2025, the company launched the Crunchies Spelling Bee Competition (TCSB), aimed at promoting literacy, academic excellence, and confidence among secondary school students. The competition began with editions in Aba and Umuahia and was expanded in 2026 to include Aba, Uyo, Akure, and Asaba. It follows a structured format comprising interschool qualifying rounds, semi-finals, and city-level finals attended by educators, parents, and community stakeholders. As of 2026, the initiative has engaged 81 schools, 162 participating students, and 95 teachers, with approximately 3,000 attendees recorded across events.
