History
Clinical Leukemia was established in 2006 and is indexed on CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature), Scopus, Embase, and Chemical Abstracts. It is published four times annually and features an editorial board of prominent thought leaders, including Editor-in-Chief Dr. Jorge Cortes, of The University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center, in Houston, Texas
AbOUT
Clinical Leukemia is devoted to articles on detection, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of leukemia. The main emphasis is on recent scientific developments in all areas related to leukemia. Specific areas of interest include clinical research and mechanistic approaches; [...] sensitivity and resistance; gene and antisense therapy; pathology, markers, and prognostic indicators; chemoprevention strategies; multimodality therapy; and integration of various approaches.
It publishes editorials, original research papers, comprehensive reviews, current treatment reports, case reports, brief communications, current trials, translational medicine pieces, and a "Meeting Highlights" section.
Editor-in-Chief
Jorge Cortes, MD Professor of Medicine, University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center
Dr. Cortes is the Deputy Chair in the Department Of Leukemia at The University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center, in Houston, Texas. He is also the Chief of the CML Section in the Department of Leukemia. In 1991 he started his hematology-oncology fellowship at M.D Anderson and in 1995 was appointed Head of the Hematology/Oncology Department of the Instituto Nacional de la Nutricion Salvador Zubiran in Mexico City. In 1996 he returned to the Department of Leukemia at M. D. Anderson. He is also program director of the Leukemia Fellowship at MD Anderson and has several other administrative appointments such as Chair of the Intensive Care Unit Committee, Chair of the Transfusion Committee, and Vice Chair of the Institutional Review Board.
Dr. Cortes earned his medical degree at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico in Mexico City.
