Byron Hout
Byron Hout (born September 15, 1989) is an American football defensive end in his sophomore year at Boise State University in Idaho.
High school
Hout was born in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, and played linebacker at Lake City High School in Coeur dā Alene. He was a three-year letterman in football and was named Idaho's Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior, and was Idaho Statesman first-team all-state and 2006 5A Idaho Player of Year.
College career
Hout committed to Boise State, playing as a defensive end with increasing playing time in his freshman year. He totaled 27 tackles (6 of them tackles for loss), 4 sacks, and an interception during the 2008 Poinsettia Bowl, which he returned 62 yards.
2009 taunting incident
At the end of the 2009 season opening game against Oregon, Hout was involved in an altercation with Oregon running back LeGarrette Blount. Hout walked past Blount, touched his shoulder pads, disrespectfully taunting him, and Blount, in retaliation, approached Hout and punched him in the face. Blount has apologized for his involvement in the incident..
Disciplinary action
Boise State spokesman Max Corbet indicated that Hout would not be suspended for provoking Blount. Instead, Chris Petersen intends to spend time with him in order to help Hout "learn from what happened."
