Brett Jensen
Brett Jensen (Born November 29, 1983 in Humboldt, Iowa) is a pitcher for the West Michigan Whitecaps of the Midwest League. He played collegiately for Nebraska leaving the team with 2 team records. He went to high school at Eagle Grove High School.
Baseball
College
Brett played at Iowa Central Community College as a freshman and got drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 45th round of the 2003 MLB Draft but transferred to Nebraska. In 2004 he went 1-4 with a 5.29 ERA and only 2 saves. He threw 22 strike outs and only 5 walks in 20 games played. Brett went 3-5 with a 1.96 ERA and struck out 46 batters in 33 games his junior year. He set 2 husker records with 16 saves in a season and 18 in his career. He had 5 saves in the postseason including one in the 2005 College World Series against Arizona State (Nebraskas first ever CWS win). He was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 2005 MLB Draft after his but turned it down to play his senior year. In 2006, Brett went 5-0 with a 2.56 ERA in 45.2 innings pitched. He ended his senior season with 13 saves extending his career saves record to 31. The Detroit Tigers drafted Brett in the 14th round (412 overall) of the 2006 MLB Draft.
Minor League
After Brett got drafted he played with the Oneonta Tigers in 2006 in The New York - Penn League. He went 1-0 and pitched in 25 games with 17 saves and 31 strike outs. Brett is currently 5-1 for the Whitecaps with 23 saves in a team high 53 appearances, a 1.75 ERA and striking out 59 and only walking 8 in 56.2 innings.
