Bayali Atashov

Early life
Beyali Khanali oghlu Atashov was born on July 16, 1946. He graduated from Imishli Railway Secondary School № 34 and Azerbaijan National Economics Institute named after D. Bunyadzadeh (present Azerbaijan State University of Economics), department of Economics with Accounting in 1964 and in 1970 respectively.
Career & Achievements
From 1970 to 1974 (except a gap year of military service) he worked as a Chief Accountant on kolkhoz (a collective farm in the former Soviet Union) named after Hazi Aslanov in Imishli District where his family had been living. Between 1975 and 1987 Mr. Atashov held high-ranking positions at prestigious industrial enterprises under the Ministry of Meat and Dairy Products. Since March 1987 he has been taking various positions at Azerbaijan State Association of Cooperatives ("Azerittifag"): Director of the Republic Office for Meat supply and sales; Chief Executive Officer of the Central Office of Supply, Production and Sales of Agricultural Products; Director-General of the International Trade Union; Chief of the Department of Finance and Economics He has been Vice-President for Academic Affairs at Azerbaijan Cooperation University. With his in-depth experience in financial accounting, manufacturing and organizational management, Mr. Atashov since his early years, has always been engrossed in academic researchers. In 1989 he defended his dissertation on subject of "Development of Meat and Dairy Industry in the Republic of Azerbaijan", while in 2002, he defended his doctoral thesis on the theme of "Organizational and Managerial Problems in the Establishment and Development of Food Facility in the Republic of Azerbaijan" and under the relevant decisions adopted by the State Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan he was conferred academic degrees of "Associate Professor" and "Professor". Mr. Atashov is one of those pioneering researchers who have examined the challenges in the development of Food Facility and Food Security in Azerbaijan. In the frame of cooperation with the international organizations, the proposals and recommendation put forward in his theses have partially been applied to the projects on "Rural Reforms in Agriculture" and "Organization of Privatized Agricultural Establishments", "Lending and Development of Agriculture". Alongside several educational institutions, Mr. Atashov has long been pursuing his pedagogic activity at Azerbaijan University of Cooperation, in the department of Finance. He is author of 6 monographs, 5 textbooks and numerous study guides and educational programs, as well as methodical guidelines and more than 110 scholarly articles. On the other hand, Mr. Atashov has actively been involved in training of young scholars in the domain of Economics, and been member of Azerbaijan Union of Economists, Academic Council of Azerbaijan University of Cooperation, and Unified Council FD.04.013 for Conducting defense of theses submitted for acquiring the title of Doctor of Philosophy operating under Azerbaijan State Agricultural University. Between 2006 and 2010 he became the member of specialized council for conducting defense of theses for the title of Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Sciences operating under Azerbaijan Scientific-Research Institute of Economy and Organization of Agriculture. So far 15 candidates applying for the academic title of Doctor of Philosophy in Economics have defended their theses under the supervision of Mr. Atashov who bears 30 years of experience in scientific-research and academic-pedagogy. Currently he is an academic supervisor of a candidate competing for academic title of Doctor of Sciences and 7 candidates competing for Doctor of Philosophy. 3 of those candidates are due to defend their theses. Besides, he has supervised more than 30 Master students in Master theses. Moreover, he is a reviewer of theses and doctoral dissertation handed in previous candidates for defense and an editor of several monographs, textbooks, study guides and educational programs. A majority of promising young scholars who had once been supervised by Mr. Atashov, be either as academic supervisor or academic supervisor, are currently pursuing their academic and pedagogic activities successfully in eminent educational institutions across the country. He has continuously been involved in the work of Supreme Attestation Commission at Azerbaijan University of Cooperation and Azerbaijan State Agricultural University, where he has been working for up to 20 years, in the position of a member holding Chief's position. In his capacity as professor in the Department of Finance Atashov, with his deep and profound mastery in teaching methods, which has manifested itself in his lectures and seminars, has always commanded both his undergraduate and graduate students’ attention. From time to time Mr. Atashov is being involved in the investigation into the accreditation of higher educational institutions. His merits as Founder and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the scientific-practical magazine called "Cooperation" that was registered in the Supreme Attestation Commission's log should not be overlooked. With his interesting ideas and proposals, Atashov is continually engaging in scientific-practical conferences, symposiums, and workshops, both at local and international level dedicated to the burning problems of our economy. Between 1982 and 1986 he was the deputy of the Soviet of People's Deputies from Imishli City and Baku City Narimanov District Since January 19, 2010 he has joined the boards of directors of "Azerittifag". He has been engaging in translation from English and is fluent in Azeri, Russian and Turkish. He is married, he has 2 children and 4 grandchildren.
Awards & Titles
"Gizil Gelem Award" ("Golden Pen Award") The Jubilee Medal for Valiant Labor - in 1970, in compliance with the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of Azerbaijan SSR in commemoration the 100th anniversary of V. I. Lenin;
The Title of "Excellent *of Azerbaijan Cooperation University" - in 2006 by the decision of 4th Assembly of the Board of "Azerittifag".
"Tereggi" Order - in accordance with the Presidential decree of 18 November 2014 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Azerbaijan Cooperation University and for his merits in the development of education in Azerbaijan.
"Honored Cooperator" Order – by the Decree № 33 dated on July 18, 2016 issued by the board of directors of "Azerittifag", on the occasion of his 70th anniversary and for his long-lasting meritorious labor and pedagogic activities in "Azerittifag" and his contributions to the training of well-educated and skilled personnel and scholars in Economics.
"Honored Academic Figure" - in accordance with the Presidential Decree of 4 October 2016, on the occasion of his 70th anniversary and his merits in the development of education in Azerbaijan.
