Scientific career
Tukezban Goyushova has been leading the Gedabey archaeological expedition since 2008, and she is the only female expedition leader in Azerbaijan for the past 35 years. She has conducted archaeological research mainly in the cyclopean structures-fortresses of Gedabey (late Bronze-early Iron Age settlements), as well as in ancient necropolises. Her main research area is the Bronze Age archaeology of Azerbaijan, especially the study of the ancient roots of applied art of this period, the most striking example of which is the bronze belts with inscriptions on them. She has conducted large-scale archaeological research in the "Leshkar" and "Govdu" forts of Gedabey, and out of the 80 cyclopean structures in Gedabey, the fort, which was registered by Ishag Jafarzadeh as the Delme fort, was put into scientific circulation by Tukezban Goyushova under the name of the Leshkar fortress.
T.Goyushova is one of the best researchers of the Khojaly-Gedabey archaeological culture. She is the first researcher of the Daryurd stone box graves of Gedabey, the Leshkar, Govdu forts, as well as the archaeological monuments of the medieval fortresses of Koroglu and Giz Galasy, which have a place in the study of the Khojaly-Gedabey archaeological culture. In 2022, for the first time in the history of Azerbaijan, she conducted archaeological excavations at the medieval fortresses of Gedabey - Koroglu fortress in the village of Galakand and Namerdgala, located at a 7–8 km distance from the village of Soyudlu. Tukezban Goyushova played a great role in the discovery of ancient monuments dating back to the 14th-8th centuries BC in the villages of Shinikh and Goyelli in Gedebey, bordering Armenia. The monuments called Horukdash and Akhchachikhan are cyclonic monuments dating back to the late Bronze Age. Thousands of artifacts recovered from the excavations were transferred to the Gedabey Museum of History and Local Lore after scientific research, thereby significantly enriching the museum’s scientific fund.
T.Goyushova actively participated in archaeological research conducted in the areas covered by the pipelines during the construction of the Baku-Supsa pipeline in 1997-1998. Since 2000, she has worked as part of archaeological expeditions operating in Nakhchivan, Shamkir, Tovuz, Gedebey, Agstafa, Goranboy and other places.
In 2001, Tukezban Goyushova worked as part of the Azerbaijan-American international expedition under the leadership of Ilyas Babayev, and in 2007 and 2014, she worked as part of international expeditions (in Gedebey and Agstafa) that brought together specialists from the French National Center for Scientific Research.
