alliantgroup is a national tax consulting services firm that works with CPA firms and their business clients to identify and claim available federal and state government-sponsored tax credits and incentives. alliantgroup assists companies with obtaining tax incentives for activities such as research and development, manufacturing, exporting, energy-efficient design, and hiring in certain established enterprise zones.
History
alliantgroup was founded in 2002 by Dhaval Jadav, CEO, formerly with Big 4 accountancy firm Deloitte, and Shane Frank, COO.
Services
alliantgroup’s services include identifying credits and deductions for businesses and developing detailed studies to substantiate claims in connection with the following federal and state tax incentive programs:
- Research & Development Tax Credit: To receive the R&D credit, businesses must identify and substantiate credits based on a company’s qualified research activities and expenditures. Businesses that may qualify for R&D credits include the following industries: architecture, engineering, construction, manufacturing, computer software/technology, pharmaceutical industry, and the food processing industry.
- Export Incentives: Interest Charge Domestic International Sales Corporation (IC-DISC): To encourage a better balance of trade and help keep U.S. products competitive in the world market, the government offers certain tax incentives for U.S. companies that sell goods and services abroad.
- Domestic Production Deduction (DPD): The Internal Revenue Code Section 199 provides tax incentives for businesses that perform domestic manufacturing and certain other production activities.
- Energy-Efficient Commercial Building Incentives: Based on Section 179D of the Internal Revenue Code, tax benefits are available for the design and installation of energy-efficient systems including interior lighting, HVAC, hot water, or building envelopes in commercial and government buildings.
- State and Local Tax (SALT) Credits: Tax breaks including state add backs and modifications, alternative filing positions for apportion able and allocable income, and nexus issues related to state income and franchise taxes may be available to certain businesses in many states and cities.
- Hiring Credits and Incentives: States such as California offer hiring tax credits and deductions to employers to encourage and stimulate growth, development, and investment in economically depressed areas.
- Tax Controversy Services: alliantgroup represents clients undergoing IRS or State examinations. alliantgroup provides full audit defense services associated with such examinations that includes pre-audit risk analysis and planning, representation through IRS and State administrative proceedings and further, assistance with lawsuits (or other legal matters) and litigation support.

On June 19, 2012, Bloomberg published an article alleging that alliantgroup had been investigated by the IRS. However, there was no formal investigation and the IRS rejected the whistleblowers' claims of wrongdoing by alliantgroup.
