Alisa Anderson

Alisa Anderson (born 11 November 1983 in Chiang Mai, Thailand) is a Scottish based actress. After beginning her acting career with Raindog Young Blood, youth wing of Glasgow theatre company Raindog, Alisa went on to study at the University of Stirling where she graduated with a B.A. in Film and Media Studies.

After graduating Alisa began a Drama Apprenticeship with Solar Bear Theatre Company. Her apprenticeship involved devising and delivering a range of workshops and Projects. These included being Drama Facilitator for Solar Bear’s DYT - the first Deaf Youth Theatre in Britain. As part of her training she participated in a series of intensive workshops with acclaimed deaf performer and director Ramesh Meyyappan, which centred on aspects of Physical theatre and Visual Communication.

Theatre productions include: Savage (a retelling of William Golding's Lord of the Flies), U.N by Simon McCallum (both for Raindog Youngblood), The Dark Prince for Wave Theatre and Broken for Solar Bear directed by Gerry Ramage for which Alisa was required to learn British Sign Language for her portrayal of a young deaf girl. Alisa made her debut Fringe performance at the 2009 Edinburgh Fringe Festival as Tomoko in David Leddy's White Tea where she appeared alongside award winning Scottish actress Gabriel Quigley. White Tea went on to win the following three awards: Scotsman Fringe First, Herald Angel & the Edinburgh International Festival Fringe Prize. Television and radio appearances include Cuba for BBC Radio 4 written by Liz Lochhead and most recently Alisa appeared as Matsuko in Four New Town, a BBC Scotland drama pilot for BBC Four, directed by award winning director Annie Griffin. In 2009 New Town was awarded a Scottish BAFTA for 'Best Television Drama'.
