History
The idea for the show originated as a website called Chicagoactor.com. Steven Saltzman would interview celebrities visiting and or working in Chicago. These taped interviews would then be posted on the website for viewing. Saltzman came up with the idea for a Late Night Talk show after realizing it would be easier to interview celebrities in a studio rather than chasing them around the city. Celebrities originally interviewed by Chicagoactor.com include Jeremy Piven, Heather Graham, David Carradine, Michael Rooker, Bonnie Hunt, John Lodge, Gabe Kaplan, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Bill Curtis, and Walter Jacobson. Interviews with Alec Baldwin and Tony Curtis were edited into the premiere episode.
Episode Structure
The debut show begins with a cold open with Saltzman interacting with Alec Baldwin. The Show's opening credits feature a series of shots of Chicago, and Daryl Stuermer and his band playing the Genesis song Turn it on Again, originally written from the 1980 Genesis album Duke. Saltzman walks out on the stage to perform his stand-up monologue. He first interacts with the band and then proceeds to discuss his previous work, using self deprecation AbOUT his various roles in the past.
