7th Marine Brigade (Reserve)

The 7th Marine Brigade (Reserve), formerly known as the 4th Marine Brigade (Reserve), is one of the marine brigades of the Philippine Navy Reserve Command, which is organic to the Naval Reserve Center - National Capital Region. It is a naval infantry or marine unit, and specializes in Urban Operations, disaster relief, and Civil Military Operations.

Its area of responsibility encompasses the entire National Capital Region and Greater Manila Area.

History

On October 22, 1996, the 4th Marine Brigade (Reserve), was activated as support unit of the Philippine Navy pursuant to Section I of General Orders Nr. 229.

The organizational re-structuring of the Philippine Navy at beginning of the new millennia transferred operational control of the unit from Philippine Marine Corps to the Naval Reserve Command. This change in organization structures led to the deactivation of the 4th Marine Brigade and the activation of the 7th Marine Brigade.

Mission

  • Base for expansion of the Regular Force in the event of war, invasion or rebellion within its AOP.
  • Assist the Government in Relief and Rescue Operations in the event of Calamities or Disasters.
  • Assist the Government in Socio-economic development and environmental concerns.
  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of essential government and private utilies (e.g. power, telecommunications, water).
