1st Avenue (Portland, Oregon)
1st Avenue are two streets running north–south in Portland, Oregon, in the United States.
Description
Burnside Street separates Northwest 1st Avenue and Southwest 1st Avenue on the west side of the Willamette River. The northern terminus of NW 1st Avenue is at NW Glisan Street, near the Steel Bridge, in the Old Town Chinatown neighborhood. The southern terminus of SW 1st Avenue is SW Woods Street. Buildings and other structures along 1st Avenue on the west side include the Blagen Block, Skidmore Fountain, Veritable Quandary (now demolished, with the Multnomah County Central Courthouse under construction), Oak Street/Southwest 1st Avenue MAX Station, and World Trade Center.
On the east side of the river, there is only Northeast 1st Avenue which has a southern terminus at Lloyd Boulevard behind the Oregon Convention Center, and runs on several unconnected sections until reaching its northern terminus at NE Hancock Street.
