In Isaac Asimov's Robot/Empire/Foundation series of novels, the Langano Sector was an administrative division of the Galactic Empire. Its capital was presumably the planet Langano. The only planet known in the sector is Salvan, which was famous in the Empire for its geckoes. Presumably, geckoes were a rarity in the Empire, since they did not help humanity particularly much, and only those creatures that were useful were brought by humanity into space.

Gates of Winter is a symphonic, melodic metal band from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada.
Among the band's main influences are Kamelot, Dream Theater, Nightwish and Iron Maiden.

On September 24, 2007 Gulfstream II N987SA crashed in the Yucatan, Mexico carrying 3.2 tons of cocaine.
The Gulfstream II business jet (N987SA) was registered to “Donna Blue Aircraft Inc” http://donnablueaircraft.com/ of, 4811 Lyons Technology Parkway #8, Coconut Beach, Florida. The offices are leased by Butters Development http://www.butters.com/
Gulfstream N987SA has been involved in the transport of kidnap victims to Guantanamo Bay. Logs also show that the plane flew twice between Washington and Guantanamo and once between Oxford, Connecticut and Guantanamo. The American flights would have been CIA and Pentagon interrogators being ferried to interrogations at Guantanamo. At the time of the Guantanamo flights, the plane was managed by Air Rutter International, a California-based air charter service. It was then sold on August 30 to Donna Blue Aircraft, owned by two Brazilians and sold on to two Florida men on September 16.

In David Weber's Honorverse, the Cherwell Convention is an agreement outlawing slavery in the space controlled by signatory nations. Almost all major star nations are signatories, though that does not prevent many from ignoring the provisions of the Convention when it suits them. Historically, the star nations that most reliably enforce the Convention over their spheres of control are the Star Kingdom of Manticore and the . On the other hand, the Silesian Confederacy and Solarian League have often suffered from deep corruption on the issue, despite the fact that they are official signatories of the Convention.
