Michael-Mehrdod Khan-e Zand Khajeh-Noori (aka Michael Khajeh-Noori) and Nazenin Khajeh-Noori (married name Dabbs) as a charity with a view to bringing about peace, compassion and happiness by tackling the root causes of suffering, cruelty, neglect, abuse; and enhancing the work being done by so many others by working with them and contributing financial, intellectual, effort and other capital to those projects.
History
Upon its founding, the Zand Benevolent Trust supported CRY Jersey in its very successful charity auction at the Town Hall of St Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands. The event, which was held on 18 October 2009, raised over £4,100 for the Home of Hope Children's home and day centre in Albania on and has since raised over £1,000 towards the £100,000 that it is aiming to raise over the next two years.
Mission
The Zand Benevolent Trust aims to preserve our natural planet, its latent culture, wonders and its environment for our children and future generations. Yet it also sees the need to provide relief to those desperately in need today whether they be animal, vegetable or mineral!
The Zand Benevolent Trust has a strategy of leveraging its work by working with other non-profit organizations, government, public authorities, other charities, ethical businesses, foundations, academic establishments, among others, to tackle the root causes of the imminent threats to our planet and to our children's welfare, namely:
1. Climate, earth and oceans - tackling the roots man made causes of climate change, environmental damage to the land and seas and promoting conservation projects of both animals and land.
2. Youth and children - the children are the future. Investment in today’s children, instilling the values of peace, caring, compassion, sharing, preserving and thrift, will help make a safer better world tomorrow.
3. Education and culture - We believe that the media, newspapers, schools, books, magazines, stage and films have a huge impact on the way we think, feel and behave. Zand raises funds to provide grants to ethical, fun and humane authors, film makers, etc. as well providing annual awards for those meeting such criteria. Zand will also seek to raise funds for providing grants to medical, cosmetic and other researchers and test conductors where currently animals testing is carried out, but other alternatives are available or may be developed.
4. Distress, suffering and relief - a fund will be set up to provide immediate relief for those ignored in natural disasters, victims of war, abuse etc.
