Background
==="The Warm Heart of Africa"===
Malawi, the 'Warm Heart of Africa' is an incredibly beautiful mountainous country, with an economy primarily agricultural, operating at subsistence level. Currently out of its 14 million population a great proportion are in distress because of periodic crop failure during drought and dehabilitation health problems particularly HIV/Aids (1 in 5 positive), Malaria and TB. Compounded by an extremely high population growth rate the education system is struggling. Since the introduction of free Primary Education, enrolment has leapt from 1 to 3 million by 2006. Entry to secondary school is very selective, which leaves most of the workforce ill equipped for working life, consequently the massive need to provide vocational education.
Funding
The charity has been supported by the investment from its founder as well as a number of fundraising projects, including the Justice Au Coeur and L'Association Des Parents D'Eleves and a grant from Education For All.
