Founded in 2006 and headquartered in New York City, Yext provides online advertising services for local businesses, based on a pay-per-action model. File:yext.png In 2009,Yext CEO Howard Lerman presented at TechCrunch50, and Yext has been discussed in media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, AM New York, and more. Also in 2009, Yext received a second round of funding from Institutional Venture Partners and Sutter Hill Ventures in the amount of $25 million. Yext has been a member of the Better Business Bureau since June of 2009. Pay-Per-Action Model Unlike many other lead generation and similar models, Yext employs a pay-per-action (also see cost per action) model that differs widely from similar pay-per-call or pay-per-lead models. This pay-per-action requires an action by the consumer for clients to pay for service, in comparison to solely requiring phone calls, email leads or clicks. Technology With several patents pending, Yext utilizes several technologies, including speech recognition, transcription and analysis, comparable to Google Voice. Vertical-ization Contrary to the Yellow Pages, Yext has adapted a industry/vertical-specific approach for it's directories instead of structuring around locales.
