Yan Artemio Speranza González is a Paraguayan businessman, Diplomat, director of the Moises Bertoni Foundation and consul to consulate in Asunción. Speranza is also an honorary member of the movement of businesses named Together for Education, and is also an alternative member of the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Paraguay. Career Academic Speranza graduated with a master's degree in Business Administration from the in Paraguay, and post-graduates studies in marketing, international trade and sustainable development (United States of America, Brazil, Japan and Costa Rica). Speranza created his first business at age 17 and turned to the social sector at age 26 founding Junior Achievement programs in Paraguay, the first attempt to systematically promote entrepreneurship inside the educational system. Speranza then under went a Post Graduate course in Marketing in Washington DC USA. Business After 10 years working as a director of JA Paraguay, and having received national and international awards for the program’s success, he join Fundación Moisés Bertoni as its Executive Director, motivated with the chance to work more closely with the concept of sustainable development. He is a social entrepreneur who thinks globally and acts locally in his country and region. Speranza also teaches at the university level in Paraguay, and is a board member for a number of businesses associations and non profit organizations in Paraguay. In the last two years his focus has been in the promotion of business practices based on the triple bottom line, trying to integrate the creation of economic, social and environmental values. Fundación Moises Bertoni On 29 July 2005, the ABC announced that in August 2005 Yan Speranza would become the new director of the Moises Bertoni Foundation. Speranza has lead the nonprofit organization that specializes in sustainable development and manages the Mbaracayu Natural Forest Reserve, the largest continuous remnant of the Interior Atlantic Forest in Paraguay. During Speranza's fellowship, he planned to meet with local and regional development agencies, biosphere reserves, national parks, ecotourism companies, and social entrepreneurs in order to discover new models of innovation in the area of sustainable development. Diplomatic and international relations On 4 January 2011, it was reported by the Australian embassy of Buenos Aires that Australia, who had opened an honorary consulate in the suburb of Mariscal Estigarribia in Asunción, had formally appointed Speranza as the consul. The Australian Goverment's decision to open the consulate in Asunción was described as an important step in further strengthening the relationship between Australia and Paraguay, and in enhancing consular services to Australian citizens in Paraguay. Speranza's role as the Australian honorary consul was to provide consular assistance to Australian citizens in Paraguay in consultation with Patricia Holmes and consulate officers of Australia's embassy in Buenos Aires, being responsible for maintaining contact with the Australian community in Paraguay, be called upon to assist with passport matters if necessary, and assisting in furthering cultural, educational and economic links between Australia and Paraguay.
