E3 is an Australian based product specialist, representing branded and OEM suppliers. Their product portfolio includes consumer electronics and convergence technology accessories. MP3/Ipod Accessories, IT & Gaming, AV Accessories with Youth Electronics being the major category. They develop and distribute products for major retailers in Australia and New Zealand.
History
E3! was founded in Queensland, Australia by 2 AV Accessories Industry Executives. They were working in the consumer electronics industry when they became dissatisfied that the products were always produced the way a manufacturer wanted.
They left their jobs, put in $10,000 each, started the business from a home in Brisbane and didn't take a wage for the first year while they set up E3 Style in 2006.
The strategy was to offer retailers the option to stock products in one of E3 Style’s registered brands or under the retailer’s own label. By eliminating the need for warehouse space, E3 Style were able to minimize costs. They focused on three main categories: accessories for AV, IT and OPTIX, youth electronics and promotional products.
The first E3! Categories to launch into the Australian market fit into the SOHO (Small Office, Home Office) Segment.
Expansion
The business was profitable within six months of starting with revenue of $8.7 million and a growth rate over three years of 266.5%.
In 2007, E3 Style signed an exclusive distribution agreement with SAKAR International.
In 2008, E3 Style was chosen as a development partner for Dick Smith Electronics.
June 2009 E3!, partnered with Australia’s children’s entertainers, The Wiggles. In an exclusive licensing deal, The Wiggles characters featured on a range of youth electronics products developed by E3!.
July, 2009 - E3! were selected as the exclusive partner for Yo Gabba Gabba!
May, 2009 -E3! partnered with Landcare Australia as the exclusive product development partner for consumer electronics products in the Australian market. The E3! Landcare partnership was created to provide consumers with an “eco friendly” product in the CE market.
Today
Today, E3 Style is a multi-million dollar company, built from a zero base, representing international brands. E3 Style is the only supplier in its industry to offer a complete product development and sourcing service.
Recognition
In 2008 E3! were awarded Australian Business Award for Enterprise and Innovation.
2009 - E3! were selected as Queensland winner in the Small Business Champion Awards for 2009 in the Wholesale category. The Australian Small Business Champion Awards is one of the largest small business award programs in Australia.
2009 - E3! has made it in to the SmartCompany Awards for 2009, in the Smart50 List of Companies. The SmartCompany Awards 2009 discover and recognise Australia's smartest entrepreneurs who are changing the business landscape. The finalists were judged by a panel of Australia’s best entrepreneurs and experts.
E3! made it in to the SmartCompany Awards for the second time in 2009, this time for the Crown Lager Business Start Up Awards. The SmartCompany Crown Lager Business Start Up Awards 2009 recognise Australia's fastest growing start up business aged four years or less and seeks out Australia’s start-up heroes. E3! listed at number 2. The Awards recognise the fastest growing companies as the Smart50. The awards are based on the last three financial years of revenue growth rates.
2009 - E3! made it in to the BRW Fast Starters 2009 list. The BRW Fast Starters 2009 edition looks at trends across fast growing companies and includes profiles of many of the members. The list showcases entrepreneurial and growing businesses from across the country and highlights strategies and tactics they use to be successful. BRW's Fast Starters 2009 ranks Australia's 100 fastest growing and most successful small-to-medium enterprises. E3! is listed at number 13 in the BRW Fast Starters 2009 list.
2009 & 2010 - E3! selected as finalist for Desktop Create Packaging Awards for their AV Cables
2009 & 2010 - E3! listed in the Q400 list - Queensland 400 is acknowledged as the premier forum for recognising and celebrating the achievements of the State’s unsung ‘business heroes’ — the owners of privately owned businesses who are the backbone of the Queensland economy - and their vital contribution to wealth and employment creation in the State.
2010 - E3! made it onto the BRW Fast starters 2010 list again, this time at number 15 with Vanessa Garrard being named the top ranked female entrepreneur in this list.
2010 - E3! names as finalist in the Telstra Small Business awards in the MYOB category
2011 - E3! named as finalist in the Telstra Small Business awards in the AMP Innovation award category
