</noinclude> Yael Alkalay is an American entrepreneur based in New York City and known for being the founder and CEO of Red Flower, Inc. Biography Yael Alkalay is the grandchild of the first dermatologist in Bulgaria. Her grandfather (and father) emigrated to Israel in 1954. They descended from Sephardic Jewish “grand rabbis” from Turkey, and before that, Spain. Her father also became a doctor. Her family’s connection to medicine would eventually inspire her interest in natural ingredients. Ms. Alkalay’s maternal grandfather was a gaucho in Argentina. She “learned from an early age about the use of flowers, herbs and oils in everything from the preparation of violet liquors and rose jams, to tinctures that brighten the eyes and warm the lips.” Red Flower partners with local community and family-run businesses in New York City along with farmers who practice wild-crafting and certified organic farming. and Vanity Fair. |
