Inam Kharel

Inam Kharel () (born 1996-02-14) is a Nepalese goalkeeper who first gained recognition when he achieved a trial for Gary Waddock’s first-team squad, Aldershot Town FC in July 2016. Inam was previously part of the Charlton Athletic Academy and is currently playing senior football for Erith & Belvedere F.C. He also trained alongside Welling United F.C. first team under manager Jamie Day at the age of 17.
Personal life
Inam’s ethnicity and roots lie in Nepal, although born in the City of Hong Kong he was raised in a beautiful valley of Nepal, Kathmandu. At the age of 8 Inam’s family decided to relocate him to neighboring country India, where he attended a prestigious boarding school Cambrian Hall School in Dehradun, in order to provide him with the highest quality of education. However, during his time at boarding school Inam naturally deviated towards sports, he experienced an environment where sports was a daily norm. His love of Football stems from the first time he was introduced to Football at boarding school.
Due to the distance from his family he never felt like at home, so by mutual decisions with his parents, he returned to Nepal. Once back he never stayed home as his time was occupied playing football all day in the park, street or wherever a vacant wall and the tinniest of space available. Be it barefoot, rain or shine it never deterred Inam, his sole purpose became football, whenever any spare time arose during lunchtime or period breaks he lived and breathed football all day long. The City of Kathmandu is where Inam honed his skill and talent for football, playing for his local school team KMC school, where he rose through the ranks to become the school's number one goal keeper. In 2009, Inam and his family emigrated to the United Kingdom due to his father’s work. Inam settled well and attended The John Roan School in South East London, where he was swiftly drafted into the school’s first team, this is when he realized football could also provide a possible career path as well as serving as his passion.
Club career
Inam’s first experience of English football was with his local junior team called Red Rovers JFC u16. Where he progressed further and joined u18 for the Erith & Belvedere F.C. playing in the Kent youth league and participating in the FA Youth Cup. Later he was promoted to the U21 teams playing in the Isthmian League. The opportunity provided him with a trial for Charlton Athletic F.C., through which he got to train with Welling United F.C. under manager , making him the youngest and the first Nepalese to train at that level.
