General information
Xerpi uses a hierarchical organization system based on views, blocks and links. Placement of blocks and links is done by drag-and-drop. The interface is "attractive, simple and clean" . The tagging of sites, traditionally used by social bookmarking services, is optional. Xerpi Tag Blocks and Friend Blocks stream in sites used by other users and friends. Users connect to other users via social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace or LinkedIn. These features make it possible to find new sites and connect to other like-minded users.
Xerpi's Community View feature is unique to social bookmarking services and facilitates collaboration . This feature displays links and a user’s organization to other viewers. For example, the URL is an Anime and Manga Community View available to the public, including unregistered users. The use of Xerpi is free. It is built using Ruby on Rails, MySQL and AJAX libraries.
Competing tag-based social bookmarking services include: Del.icio.us, Simply and Furl.
