Social Networking For Business is nothing new. Busineses have done this for a long time before the Internet ever came into being.
Social networking at functions such as Chamber Of Commerce After Hours are a mainstay for most business profesionals to network within their community. There are also seminars, conventions and many other forms of offline functions that serve as social networking oppertunities for business.
With the advent of the Internet businesses have the oppertunity to Network with a much broader scope. Social networking sites have been created to bring people of simaliar interests, economic levels, age, or other factors together on a platform that creats an social interaction.
Social Network Sites: A Definition
We define social network sites as web-based services that allow individuals to (1) construct a public or semi-public profile within a bounded system, (2) articulate a list of other users with whom they share a connection, and (3) view and traverse their list of connections and those made by others within the system. The nature and nomenclature of these connections may vary from site to site.
Most of the social network sites are not created for business, although they are being used by businesses to connect with consumers. A true Social Networking Site For Business
would connect business owners with other business owners who have a similar interest. There are a growing number of social networking sites focused on business users and meeting their needs. Some of these sites would be LinkedIn, MyBizFriends, Entrepreneur Connect, Biznik and many others.
