World Multiple Sclerosis Day

The first ever World Multiple Sclerosis Day, planned for 27 May 2009, is a day organised by the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF) <ref name="msif" /> with the intention of "rais awareness" about multiple sclerosis (MS) and "build global solidarity for the MS movement". <ref name="msif" />
47 countries have pledged to support or recognise the day in some way,<ref name="msif"/> which hopes to provide individuals, groups and organisations in the global MS movement with an opportunity to participate in internationally co-ordinated events and activities that look to raise awareness of MS as a global issue and raise funds to support the work of the movement.
