World Cheerleading Championships

The ICU World Cheerleading Championships is a National Cheerleading Team Championships conducted annually by the International Cheer Union (ICU), the sport's recognized global governing body. Following the ICU's establishment in 2004, the national cheerleading team championship has been conducted every year since 2009 in coordination with the USASF/IASF Cheerleading Worlds weekend.
The current format of the competition involves a preliminary round, and a finals round for the national cheerleading teams who advance based on top scores within their respective division. ICU World Cheerleading Championships divisions include, Team Cheer All Girl Premier, All Girl Elite, Coed Premier, Coed Elite, as well as Performance Team Cheer Freestyle Pom, Hop Hop and Freestyle Pom and Hip Hop Doubles. The current champions are Mexico (All Girl Elite, Coed Elite, Freestyle Pom Doubles), Japan (Hip
Hop Doubles) and the United States (All Girl Premier, Coed Premier, Team Freestyle Pom, Team Hip Hop).
<big>Qualification</big>
The World Cheerleading Championships National Cheerleading Teams are qualified through the ICU's respective 110 National Cheer Federation members through selection by national team tryout, top team selection based on competition performance (e.g. National Championships) or through a National Cheer Federation selection committee.
