Diksha fest

Diksha is a South Indian technical and cultural fest conducted by Calicut University Institute of Engineering and Technology. The event happens between November 18-20, and gives an opportunity for young college students showcase their skills and win prizes worth up to Rs 1.5 lakhs.

Events
1.Natya -Choreo Video
“tap the floor and let the heart of DIKSHA beat”…..

→ 6-12 members per team
→ time 12 minutes
→Judgment based on theme, choreography, synchronization, props…..etc
2.Smrithi -Nostalgia
“ Redefine forgotten memories with the energy of persent”

→ 6-10 members per team
→ time 10 minutes
→song should be of or before 1985
3. Aavega- Reality Show
“……Triumph of enthusiastic moments……” → Minimum 5 members per team →final 8 teams will be selected based on Preliminary round
4. Dhwani- Western orchestra
“fusion of musical rhythms….&.. rhythmic sensuality”→ Maximum 12 participants
→15 min time for setting→ 20 min time for performance
5. Swaralaya- Karaoke
“ Match the rhythm with the vibrancies of music”→Only Indian film songs
→3 songs allowed →Karaoke should be given before the Performance
→the entries must be submitted in mp3 Format→maximum 5 members allowed in a group
→group/duet singing allowed
6. Mayoora-solodance
“ The art of transforming the souls into the rhythm of perfection”
→maximum 5 minutes
→any type of music is permitted
→props allowed
→song should be submitted in mp3 format 1hr before the program
7.Mauna-Mime
“ sometimes in silence, movements become the supreme sound”
→maximum time limit 5min
→a maximum of 8members per team is allowed including accompanist
→in case of recorded music cds should be submitted in mp3 format
8.Vagmi-the talking wizard
“ dribbling of words and thoughts….”
→Will be conducted in 4 rounds
→there will be elimination after each round
→the rules and regulations in each round will be explained prior to the program only
9. Sargam -Nadanpattu
“ sargarmic heritage rediscovered….”
→ 6-8 members
→ time limit 10 minutes

10. Shruthi-Light music
“ to the pond of talent with voice”
→No film songs allowed
→ time limit 5minutes
→ No instruments accompanied
11.Abhinaya - street play
“ red worded stories about bloodshed and tears..., here, art is disputing for revolution”
→maximum members in a team is 8
→ time limit 20 minutes
→only percussion instruments can be used
12.Bhavana -creative writing
“ when words thrive, pen throb, the silence speaks….”
→any language out of English and Malayalam can be used
→maximum time duration 1 hr
13.Kalpana-creative drawing
“ let imagination flourish to shape and shades….”
→maximum time duration of 1hr
→any style can be used
14.Marudani-mehandi design
“ when the magic of crafting is transferred to hands”
→time duration: 1hr
→design cannot be brought
→partner should be brought by the participant

Robotics Workshop -by Thinklabs™
• 2 day workshop

• Specialization course in line following and precision robotics.

1. Marketing Maestro
→product for the add will be given prior to the program
→time duration: 10 minutes for discussion and 1 minute to perform
→max team members: 4
→if team number exceeds 6 prelims will be conducted
2. Quiz
→maximum of 2 no’s per team
→only college teams are allowed
→prelims will be conducted if more than 6 teams arrive
3. Idea hunt
→any technical idea (paper/project) can be presented
→time:15+5
15 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for queries
4. Best professional
→the best professional comes out after a series of tests, the tests and their way of judgment will be described prior to the program
5. Assemble the system
→show your talent in hardware and compete to assemble a system as fast as you can
→prelims will be conducted based on computer hardware
6. ROBOMANIA
‘CAN YOU AUTOMATE THE WORLD’
• Design and build a robot to solve the given problem.
• The problem and its specifications will be posted in the web 20 days prior to the program
• Max 3 members per team
7.BEST EXHIBIT-‘ARE YOU AN EDISON?’
• Bring a technical working model

• It will be presented in our exhibition and the best project will be awarded the best exhibit title
Rules
RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. All the participants are required to bring their college ID cards(or proof of college identity). Participation or stay in the campus during Diksha’09 shall not be permitted without the same.
2. All the participants are required to pre-register in the official Diksha website for Diksha‘09 ID and specify if accommodation is required as per the directions in the website. Online registration is compulsory so as to avail accommodation and it will be provided strictly on a first-come-first-serve-basis.
3. Each college is expected to have a team captain and he/she should ensure, that only members from his/her college participate under the respective college name. Any attempt to include outsiders in the team shall lead to the disqualification of the college.
4. In the event of discovery of malpractice/mis-behavior of any kind, the decision of the Diksha’09 team shall be final.
General Instructions & Information
1. Team Captains from each college are requested to contact the Registration Manager, at least one week before Diksha 09.
2. Online registration does not guarantee accommodation in the campus. Rooms will be allotted strictly on “First Come First Serve” basis.
3. Accommodation will be provided in shared rooms. Any requests for single rooms shall not be entertained.
4. Registration and Hospitality desks will be functioning round the clock during Diksha 09 days starting from 5 pm on 17th November 2009. However the desks will remain closed during the Pro-Shows.
5. Neither the Institute nor the Diksha ‘09 committee shall be responsible for any misplacement/loss of belongings during Diksha 09.
For the special attention of the participants coming in groups.
6. Each group is advised to have a list of group members along with their Diksha ID's at the time of check-in. Carrying such a list can considerably reduce the delay at the registration desk.
(Inorder to have a list of all the registered members from your college & their respective Diksha IDs, mail your request to dikshafest@gmail.com
7. A representative from each group is strongly advised to contact the Hospitality Manager prior to their arrival at the campus to avoid delays in registration,for confirmation of accommodation.
HOSPITALITY & REGISTRATION PROCEDURE
1. Participants arriving at the campus are required to confirm their participation at the registration. The registration fee is Rs 20/-.
2. Those availing the accommodation facility may do so by paying an accomodation fee of Rs 50. An additional caution deposit of Rs50 will be collected which shall be refunded at the time of de-registration.
3. All Certificates and prizes , won by a college, will be handed over to the team captain at the time of de-registration. The participants will have to collect the same from their respective team captains.
4. The Diksha team reserve the right to deduct from the caution deposit or from the prize money, for any loss/damage caused by the participants.
