The Wirral number 1 route is a 20.5 mile long bus route on the Wirral Peninsula, England. The route operates between the cities of Liverpool and Chester. The route is operated by Stagecoach Merseyside & South Lancashire, Since November 2012 when First Chester & The Wirral put their franchise up for sale. Route The route route starts at Liverpool Sir Thomas Street, the main terminus for cross-river bus services to the Wirral. From there, the route takes it to Birkenhead, along the A41, to Ellesmere Port and finally to Chester. The route is the most popular route on the Wirral along with the number 2 route operated by Arriva and Stagecoach.
