London Buses route 80 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, United Kingdom. It is currently contracted to Go-Ahead London History Route 80 was introduced on 23 November 1949, running between Tooting Broadway and Lower Kingswood. The route remained the same until 1969, apart from conversion to Routemaster operation. In 1969, it was diverted to Morden rather than Tooting, and cut back in Lower Kingswood to rookery way (It previously terminated at Mint Arms). At this time it was also converted to one person operation using single decker buses. In 1976, route 80 was withdrawn between Belmont and Lower kingswood Mondays-Saturdays and replaced by an extension of route 280. In 1979, the Sunday service was converted back to Double Deck operation. In 1980, the Monday-Saturday service was further cut back, this time to Sutton, and the route gained double deckers on all days of the week. In 1982, the Sunday service was cut back to Belmont, and the Monday-Saturday service extended back to Belmont. 1983 saw a daily extension of the route to Putney bridge via route 93, although this extension was withdrawn in 1988, when the route was also extended to Banstead Village from Belmont. Journeys were diverted to serve Highview Prison in 1991. The route was cut back to terminate at Highview prison in 1996, when the route was converted to low-floor single deckers. At the other end, it was extended to Hackbridge. The route has remained the same ever since.
