London Buses route 260 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, United Kingdom. The service is currently contracted to Metroline. History Route 260 was introduced on 3 January 1962 to replace the former trolleybus route 660 which ran from Barnet Church and terminated at Willesden Junction via North Finchley, Finchley, Golders Green, Childs Hill, Cricklewood, Willesden and Halesden; it was also extended during Monday-Friday peak hours and Saturdays to Hammersmith. It was withdrawn between Barnet Church and New Barnet in 1969, although it was extended from Barnet Church on Sundays to Barnet Chesterfield Avenue. In 172 the peak hour extension was shortened to terminate at Acton Vale. In the summer of 1998 the contract was handed over to Metroline using their fleet of MCW Metrobuses. Not long afterwards Alexander Royale bodied Volvo Olympians were converted from the 16 along with Olympians which were from Hong Kong. This allowed the Metrobuses to be withdrawn and in the summer of 2003 the route was converted to low floor using Plaxton bodied Volvo B7TLs. On 29 November, the route was extended from Shepherd's Bush Green via the Westfield Complex to serve the new White City Bus Station.
