National Express route A3 is a bus route in London, United Kingdom. The service is currently contracted to National Express. History Prior to National Express' use of it, the number A3 had previously been used by in attempts to link London Victoria with Stansted Airport in 1981 and 1992, which were shortly abandoned due to low passenger numbers. It was operated by 16 new MCW Metrobuses in 1981, and 24 in 1992. The service was launched on 5 December 2011 in response to a gap in the market for a bus from Sutton to Gatwick created as a result of the non-TfL route 420, which used to link Sutton to Gatwick via Redhill, curtailing at Redhill, in 2013 re-extended to Whitebushes via East Surrey Hospital. Andrew Cleaves, managing director of National Express coach said: "The business has the advantage of being able to respond and offer new and improved routes and services to meet demand. As such we're delighted to introduce this new service for the people of Sutton." the A3 goes via Lower Kingswood, Belmont railway station, Sutton railway station and Sutton High Street.
