William J. "Bill" McCamley is a Democratic County Commissioner in Doña Ana County, New Mexico. He has represented Doña Ana's 5th District () since 2004.
Bill was born on Camp Hialeah in Pusan, South Korea, where his father, a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel, was stationed at the time. Bill moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1992 after his father retired from the U.S. Army.
After graduating from Mayfield High School in 1996, he went on to New Mexico State University, where he earned an honors degree in government with minors in history and biology. During his time there, he served as president of the Associated Students of New Mexico State University. He then went on to attain his master's degree in public policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
United States Congressional Campaign, 2008 On April 4, 2007, Bill McCamley announced he would challenge Republican Rep. Steve Pearce for New Mexico's 2nd congressional district seat for the U.S. House of Representatives.
Rep. Pearce formally announced on November 5, 2007 that he would vacate his NM CD-2 House seat in pursuit of a seat in the U.S. Senate, following Sen. Pete Domenici's retirement announcement.
