WikiPic Limited is a image wiki project based in Manchester, United Kingdom . It was founded in April 2009 by Bilawal Hameed and went live to the public in August 2009 . It claims to be built on top of the Amazon AWS platform while serving at least 9,000 images (Nov 09) . Purpose On the website it states "As unique as we want WikiPic to be, I feel that by providing a useful utility that can create simple standards on the web, it can provide applications online with the facility to use WikiPic under their control, and at their own discretion." Growth During September 2009, KillerStartups and several other blogs gave attention to WikiPic and published stories. |
