Jokeroo is a website which hosts pictures, videos, and online games. The website was founded on February 8, 2001 by two teenagers based in Toronto, Canada. The website records over 10 million unique visitors per month and over 25 million page views (according to ComScore Media Metrix). Jokeroo.com was formerly known as Jokaroo.com prior to October 15 2006.
Jokeroo also hosts "Fade Out". Advertisers such as Warner Brothers, Sony, Lionsgate, Alliance Atlantis, Wireless Wave have worked with Jokeroo and used this advertising format. The inventors of the pending patent are listed as Chris Pavlovski & Aleks Dugonjic. The stated purpose of the fade out is to provide advertisers with a high impact advertisement without hindering the video experience for the user.
Milestones
On July 5, 2005, Jokaroo entered into a partnership with America Online to provide user generated content.
On June 26, 2007, Jokeroo entered into a partnership with Quebecor, parent company of Canoe.ca to provide user generated content.
On September 18, 2007, Jokeroo Entertainment was recognized as one of the fastest growing web properties in the Entertainment Humor category. It placed in 3rd place behind National Lampoon and Comedy Central while posting growth of 37% from July to August in the United States.
On April 29, 2008, Jokeroo.com premiered its video fade-out advertisement format with Warner Bros for the movie Speed Racer.
On February 4, 2009, comScore named Jokeroo.com the largest humour website in Canada for males 18-34.
