Welly Die Casting Factory Limited is a manufacturer of die-cast toy cars and has been in the scale model business since 1979. The company's factories are located in Guangdong Province of China, and employ over 3000 workers. History At the beginning of the 1980s, Welly mainly produced die-cast toy cars roughly 3 inches in length (approx. 1:64 scale). 4.75 inch die-cast toy cars (approx. 1:38 scale) were added later that decade. In the 1990s, the company developed 1:24 scale models, then added 1:18 scale ones. They have become collectable, with one guide saying: "While incorporating less metal and more plastic in their design than most, Welly toys still display the kind of charm and durability that are the marks of a well-made toy." Another describes Welly as one of the most popular brands to collect, as it has "a very good quality / price ratio." Welly currently manufactures a wide range of scales for its customers, namely 1:18, 1:24, 1:32, 1:38, 1:43, 1:64 & 1:87. It is a licensee of over 40 different brands, including ones for cars, trucks, bicycles, and motorbikes, off-road trailers, as well as ones for full playsets. Each year, the company invests additional capital in new models. Welly recently established a research and development department, and began to developing different ranges of radio-controlled models, including 1:32 scale die cast cars and trucks, and 1:12 scale plastic RC cars. International Welly reproduces Russian cars in 1/34 and 1/60 scales only for the Russian market. In South Korea, Pino B&D and Innocean sell 1:38 Hyundai & Kia diecasts.
