Introduction
Website Planning is a part of the Website Design process, that enables the website planner to define key aspects of the website that will be used in order to complete a functional, usable and accessible website that performs a defined purpose.
Key inputs into the Website Planning process are; "what the website says" and "to whom" it says it.

The 4 Key Aspects of Website Planning
A Website Planning document defines 4 key aspects of your Website. These are:
Message/Audience
Perception
Action
Content

Message / Audience
This section of a website planning document involves defining the primary message that the Website will convey to the audience groups (website users).
Examples of this are; telephone us about our product/service, buy something, register with our website etc.
This section of a website planning document also defines the major purposes for the site. Examples of these are; name branding, e-commerce, product or service information, generate leads, etc.
This section of a website planning document also defines the target audience groups and may detail things like; age range, profession, interests, gender, income bracket etc.

Define your Website Perception
This section of a website planning document defines how the user perceives the site; how they feel in reponse to the look and feel of the design and how they react to its conetnt and messages.

Define the Actions you want your Website Visitors to take
This section of a website planning document defines the primary action that the target users should take from the homepage and other areas of the site. Examples of these are; order a product, download a brochure, browse company information, move along specified path through the catalogue, email customer service, explore pages make a telephone call etc.

Define your Website Content
This section of a website planning document defines the textual, visual and any other elements or styles of information delivery that the website will contain.
