Wah Wah 45s

Wah Wah 45s is an independent record label, publishing company and
promoter created in the 90s in London. Artists like Liane Carroll or Scott Hammond have worked with the company and it is one of Huey Morgan’s favorite independent labels.
Wah Wah 45s was born in 90’s London, with Simon Goss and
his brother Chris, and also DJ Billy Whizz and later Oscar Goldenchild. The first session was at The Old Albany (where The Chemical Brothers started their careers).
The first sessions were a success and drew attention from the London Jazz Café’s Adrian Gibson where they subsequently moved, running Friday nights, hosting Gil Scott-Heron, Common and Pharoah Sanders among others.
History
In 1999, Simon and Chris were joined by Mouseorgan's Dom Servini and
during that year released their first 7" vinyl a double A-side
featuring original track Magnetica by Espen Horne and a re-issue Pearl
Baby, Pearl by Benny Poole.
Wah Wah 45s released a re-issue
coupled with original track on 7" vinyl each year until 2003.
In 2003 the label opted for a more artist led approach with songs including "Like Rain" by Alison Crockett (nominated for a Gilles Peterson Worldwide Award) "Bliss" by Rosie Brown, including a Quantic remix (Tru Thoughts) and another Alison Crocket single in the same year.
Alison Crockett won the Worldwide Winners in 2003 with Like Rain.
Other vinyl releases include tracks featuring Alice Russell and Aaron Jerome now also known as SBTRKT.
Due to Chris Goss' increasing role at Hospital records Simon and Dom took over the club sessions and record label from 2004 onwards.
Wah Wah 45s went on to sign and develop new artists including Max Cole, Jamie Finlay, Colman Brothers, Talc, Ashley
Thomas, Part-Time Heroes, Scrimshire and Stac.
In January 2010 Simon Goss lost his battle with cancer . Following his loss Dom Servini and Wah Wah 45s recording artist Adam Scrimshire
have taken the reigns of the label. Since 2010 the label has continued to
expand and focus on artist development. This has
included signing new bands such as Hackney Colliery Band, Resonators, Paper
Tiger and The Gene Dudley Group plus solo artists including Bev Lee Harling (formerly of Mediæval Bæbes)
and Lea Lea, who was in XLR8Rs top 5 most downloaded artists of 2013.
The label's live shows regularly take place around London including
events at Scala in Kings Cross, Brixton Jamm and Oval Space and have featured artists including Emeli Sandé, Jamie Woon, Gilles Peterson, The Apples, Greg Wilson and others.
Dom Servini hosts a weekly radio show on Colourful Radio including regular guests and
live sessions.
There is also a monthly Wah Wah Radio show syndicated to radio stations
worldwide.
Wah Wah 45s are also known for sub labels Wah Dubplates and Wah Wah Moose.
