Vivek Vij

Dr. Vij was always an exceptional student in school. Before graduating from high school, he already showed a keen interest in medicine. In 1992, he enrolled in the B.J Medical College, a privately owned institution located in Pune. Here, he attained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of surgery degree (MBBS).

Education
From Pune, Dr. Vij moved to Patiala to further pursue his Master’s Degree. With a determination to succeed, he was able to attain a master’s degree in general surgery from the Govt. Medical College and Hospital. In 2001, he was pronounced as a member of the Royal College of Surgeons. During this period, he was also awarded the Diplomat of National Board (DNB) title by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) in India.
Career
Dr. Vivek Vij has over 17 years of experience as a surgeon in organ transplantation and liver transplant. As the founder of Liver transplantation and Hepatobiliary Sciences in Noida center, he and his team have a cumulative experience of performing more than 2500 liver transplants with a record 95% patient and 100% donor success. This is the lowest complication rate in Donor Liver Transplant (LDTL) worldwide.
Dr. Vij’s career got a head start in November 2001. He initially worked as a senior registrar of general surgery at Fortis Hospitals. He worked in the hospital until January 2003. In May, he was employed as a Senior Registrar of surgical Gastroenterology and liver transplant at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi. He worked here for a period of three years.
In September 2006, Dr. Vij began working as a consultant in the same field at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals. On a steady career path, he was able to join to Fortis Group of Hospitals as a program Director in the department of Liver Transplant and Surgical Gastroenterology and he has been a great medical contributor to the hospital ever since. Dr. Vij has a clinical interest in Adult and Pediatric Liver Transplant, Complex Liver Surgery and basic science research and generative medicine.
