BIO
Dr. Escoffery was born April 3rd., 1944 as a British Subject on the Island of Jamaica where his Father & Grandfather were both Medical Doctors.
Dr. Escoffery's Granddad rode a horse to Obstetrical deliveries in the hills above Ocho-Rios, and from the age of ten he 'apprenticed' at his side: Dr. Escoffery well remembers baptizing one of his infant patients with pneumonia, about to die from lack of hospital resources in that era. Dr. Escoffery got to know his Dad when he spent evenings together in his car as he drove around the city of Kingston doing Medical 'House-Calls.'
Dr. Escoffery was educated at Jamaica College, the all-boys Christian Academy they had both attended; and he became a Jamaican Citizen when Jamaica gained Independence in the 1960s. Dr. Escoffery entered college at McGill University in Montreal, Canada with direct admission to the second year, B.Sc./Honors Zoology in 1961-1962 at age 17 (standing maintained). Dr. Escoffery transferred to The University of The West Indies (UWI) in Kingston, Jamaica (founded as a College of The University of London, England) for the MBBS (Combined Undergraduate/Medical Degree) and graduated as a physician & surgeon in Jamaica in 1969. While at UWI, he shared the 1967 National Press Award & Gold Medal for “'The Young Jamaican Cabinet'; A Five Year Development Plan for Jamaica" (published as a series in The Jamaican 'Daily Gleaner' Newspaper). Dr. Escoffery completed his internship at UWI Hospital in 1969-70.
DR. WILLIAM ESCOFFERY III, MD, MBBS, JD, FRCP(C) Immigrated to Canada in 1970. (ECFMG/LMCC). Specialist training FRCP(C) (Fellow of The Royal College of Physicians of Canada) as an Anatomical Pathologist at the University of Toronto/Toronto General Hospital & Banting Institute, 1970-75. Dr. Escoffery moved to S. Florida in 1977. Maintained his own private Anatomical Pathology laboratory for a period and Practiced General Medicine & Obstetrics, including “Home-Deliveries” (never lost one!) in Homestead, FL for 10 years, during which time he was Founder & Chairman of the Medical Chiefs of Staff Coalition of Dade County, FL fighting the “Malpractice Crisis” of that era ~ & a Member of The Florida Governor’s E.R. & Trauma Care Task Force in 1987. (Extensive political lobbying activities including interviews on “Good Morning America”, “The Today Show,” etc.). Then practiced in a number of other states when liability issues drove many of doctors from Florida in the late 1980s. (Licensed in FL, W. VA, KS, IN, MT & MI).
Attended Washburn University School of Law, Topeka, KS 1988-92 while concurrently working full-time as a General Practice MD (Medical Director, Brown Medical, Saint Mary’s KS), part-time for the military at Fort Riley, KS; and also as Night-Coroner in Shawnee County, KS. Was Medical Examiner for Social Security Disability.

Awarded JD in 1992. Passed the Colorado Bar & was admitted to practice as an Attorney & Counselor at Law before The Colorado State Supreme Court in 1993. Medical Director for Plaintiffs’ Med-Mal Law firm “Gibbins, Winkler & Harvey” in Austin, Texas during 1992 & 1993 (while commuting week-ends to Kansas to work in the E.R at Ft. Riley).
Moved to Indiana in 1993 and became a US citizen. Brought up a couple kids (Home-Schooled my boy) & a step-daughter in Muncie, IN; was Medical Director for Hospital & Medical Clinics in Montana and Michigan, including “Frontier Medicine” ER situations (ACLS/ATLS Certified) while my kids remained with their mother to complete private Christian school in Indianapolis. Spent seven months working in Disaster Medicine for FEMA in New Orleans and environs during the Katrina/Rita catastrophes in 2005-2006. (PBS interview, Muncie IN, Fall 2006: the "Immigration Crisis"). Moved back to FL 3½ years ago after divorce.
Currently Dr. Escoffery works for PrimeCare of N.W. Florida in their medical clinic at Fort Walton Beach in The Florida Panhandle.
Dr. Escoffery married three times. He has two children: daughter Erin is a 23 year old U.S. National Merit Scholar who attended Harvard University Summer School at age 15, declined offers from Notre Dame & Boston College so as to attended U. Penn where she received her undergraduate degree in English & Political Science; worked as an intern for Indiana GOP Congressman Mike Pence in D.C. and recently completed her Master’s degree in Political Science at Cambridge University in England. Son Billy IV, a 20 year old Eagle Scout (who did his summer school at Cambridge) is presently attending undergraduate classes at the University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL.
Dr. Escoffery's third wife is Leslie Robertson-Escoffery, a 56 year old nurse whom he met upon his return to Florida three years ago. They have been married for almost a couple years and they live in Shalimar, Okaloosa County, FL.
