Vahco Before Horses

Vahco Before Horses (b.1973 Vahco Janus Strickland) is a pianist, producer, singer/songwriter and artist from San Francisco, CA. He began his music career when his grandmother overheard him playing Mozart by ear, at the age of the 3. He attended the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, but was kicked out at age 9 for "unruly" behavior. It was this and several other traumatic events which would send Vahco in the Bay Area's world of punk rock,hip-hop and new wave, often combining elements of all three genres and playing shows at 924 Gilman Street, The Stone on Broadway and The Omni as a 10 year old vocalist.
As well as his recent solo work,Vahco is currently the lead singer and guitar player/producer of the band Wishing Girls. with Trent Berry, who is the former guitarist/songwriter of Twelve Inches and A Tireless Tongue. Before his solo career, he was frontman and a writer for the San Francisco hip-hop trio Y.B.S?, pyschedellic funk group Opiate Void, and the alternative band Twelve Inches and A Tireless Tongue. Vahco was born and raised in San Francisco, CA and currently resides in Denver, CO.
Vahco is known for his intense vocal performances, as well as his prolific output in many genres of music. To date, he has released over 150 full-length albums under the name Vahco and Vahco Before Horses
Vahco is also known under the names Shauntay Camaro, Broken Jawbone, Mista Lemons, Swampy 43, Dr.Montgomery Maxwell, and Admiral Goodbye. His most popular being the name Jackson Fear, with which he produces house and abstract dance music.Under these and many other names he has put out another 100 plus releases.
In June 2015, Vahco released "Missing The Moons" a full length follow up to 2013's "Peace Love and Beats".
Vahco is also a visual artist,using mixed media and ink, spray paint, acrylics, and collage he has produced over 5000 pieces of work, and has shown in London, Tokyo, New York City, Los Angeles, Spain and San Francisco. He is inspired by graffiti, politics, Keith Haring and Jean Michel Basquiat.
