Autolect

Autolect (real name William Lamont Robinson, born May 28,1972 in Easton, Maryland) is an Underground Hip Hop Artist, Composer, Performer, Songwriter and Recorded Music Producer from the United States. The Autolect Catalog consist of 20 plus releases. Including collaborations, productions and exclusives from 2004 to present date.
Biography
Early life
At the age of 8, William's father reenlisted in the United States Air Force, and the family was stationed in the UK at the "TWIN BASES" Bentwaters Air Force Base & RAF Woodbridge, Bentwaters is also known as the location for the alleged December 1980 UFO incident in Rendlesham Forest. In 1984 the family moved to Castle Air Force Base in the town of Atwater, California, where he grew up.
William attended Atwater High, where he excelled as a football player. He also attended Merced College in Merced, California, starring in the defensive backfield for 2 years. During the 1990s, he briefly played intercollegiate football for Humboldt State University. At Humboldt State, William reverted to the religion of Al-Islam and Changed his name to Hasan.
Early professional career
In 1993, he moved to Los Angeles. Pursuing, his love for music and in 1994 he joined Amani K. Smith, POMO & Marlow to form THE GIANTS. William begun to produce and record records with THE GIANTS and gained the attention of DJ Nu-Mark ( Jurassic 5) whom was a talent scout and supervisor of recording sessions in the Los Angeles area for Correct Records. In 1997, he left Los angeles and moved to Philadelphia, Pa. While in Greenville, Nc. William recorded and released "Usephasan - Chemistry Teraqueous." on his own independent label Required / New Harvest. Appearing alongside notable artist such as of Anticon & Vaste Aire of Cannibol Ox on Centrifugal Phorce Records, The Persecution Of Hip Hop. After the release of his second single "Usephasan - KH: Iman.Cip.8.tor cd" in 1999 and his third, a white label vinyl "Usephasan - Klassic Soul" in 2001. Afterwards He went into seclusion.
Posthumous Autolect
Autolect, derives from the combination of two words. Automatic and Intellect, suggesting a Subconscious nature. Formed in August 2003 as a moniquer of Hasan. In 2005, Autolect signed an Independent distribution deal with City Hall Records in San Rafael, California, Best known for its distribution of California Bay Area / Hyphy Giants E-40, Mac Dre and Thizz Nation. This independent deal also included a compilation of previous work from Usephasan, another moniquer from Hasan from 1997 - 2003. Hasan considered the City Hall signing a bonus as being one of the only underground Abstract artist on the roster. Autolect's Every Mans Universe was scheduled for release in January 2004. But after several discussions with the staff at City hall . Hasan decided to take the release to South San Francisco independent Distributors, TRC. In addition the TRC move allowed Autolect to form a 4 year digital distribution agreement with upstart content providers IODA, independent online distribution alliance. Also located in San Francisco.
Autolect's first single was "Akh Fantastic": an uptempo, throwback anthem. Produced by: west underground producer Fanatik. Known for his early works with Planet Asia, Rasco and Stones Throw Records. Xi Sounds, whom had also joined Autolect in the City Hall deal. Decided to press a limited edition 12 inch vinyl release of the song. Which also included a B-side track from Little Brothers 9th wonder. The Justice league producer was Known mostly for his production on Jay Z's Black Album and remixes for Mary J. Blige and Destiny's Child. "Akh Fantastic" hit college radio in August 2006. Well received by Dj's "Akh Fantastic" spawned another 12" from Autolect entitled "Movin", which climbed the college Rapattack charts to number 3 in July 2007. Autolect followed in 2008 with a studio recording entitled "Between God and The Deep Blue."
Autolect had also released many digital edition recordings in 2006 and 2007 which gained Hasan a reputation as a prolific writer. To maintain the frantic pace of recording and releasing of material, Hasan formed a label with his Brother Delinta Robinson called Required. Becoming more serious about producing and writing Autolect invited Brown James, Mr. Watson, Mikial, Eru and a host of others to record a collection of material that was released thru Xi Sounds and Required on a worldwide scale.
Performance
Autolect is an animated, energetic live performer. Yet, from 2003 - 2008, Hasan preferred the tranquility of the studio verses the limelight of the stage.
Musical style
Autolect's sound is an eclectic blend of Hip hop, blues & electric soul. To encapsulate the various styles. Hasan has created Many Psedonyms, Aliases and Side projects. AHMM (Autolect & His Meltdown Movement), is production from Hasan from 2003 - 2008. In the early phases of Autolect, Hasan used Computer aided production which resulted in a quirky drum patterns. This broken beat style, found a home amongst many artist in the mid 2000's. As a lyricist Hasan’s delivery is best described as mono tone lamentation with a somewhat positive message.
