Recording Artist: The WICKSTA Recording Engineer/Artist, Producer and Promoter
At an early age, Wick knew his passion was music and recording. Though he had no formal musical training, he quested into sound recklessly...Wick was born in Watts and grew up throughout L. A. starting in Compton and Lynwood. He spent some years in Pasadena in a foster home, then later, as puberty was claiming The Wickstain, he lived with his father and younger sibling in the I.E., San Bernardino. When his father passed, Wick( then 16 years old ) moved up to Stockton, Ca. to live with relatives. It was then that he really began taking music as more than just a pastime. So he and some compadres began booking studio time and recording songs. The sessions went well and all, but the studios cost, and for someone working at Wendy’s or a carwash, it’ s allot of Doe. Forward to 1995, after spending a couple of years in the C.C.C.(California Conservation Corps.) out of stinkin’ Camarillo (literally) , Wick moved down to the lovely city of San Diego, where he took some local college’s recording classes. While attending school, Wick also got an internship at StudioWest, where he learned the art of making strong coffee. But it was at Mesa College (where the name "Roundtables MCs" came from), where he met the other 2/3 of the Hip Hop trio, (Wick/ Mike Czech/ Unite). After years of doing shows, touring and recording with the RTMCs, Wick made his transition back to Los Angeles in 2002, to work with other producers and big label talent. The Wicksta has served as a recording engineer for : Brandy, Amanda Perez, Brooke Valentine and Play-N-Skillz, to name some.
