<big> Introduction</big>
This article goes over a basic intro, as well as sources for Utah scholarships. The State of Utah, and many local Utah organizations are built to help Utah students find and earn scholarships for a secondary eduction. Utah schools are known to work hard to prepare and inform students about the financial resources that are available to them. As budgets tighten, both government and business, scholarships become harder to get and more competitive. As time goes on, scholarship winners tend to be the students that knew about scholarships earlier than later. This article goes over the history of scholarships in Utah, and the sources that have been created to present those.
<big> History and Future of Utah Scholarships </big>
State scholarships have been under serious pressure due to budget constraints over the past several years. Continuing cuts have dropped the amount of scholarship funds from 70% down to 40% of tuition. However, this is better than what the outcome was suppose to be. The Utah scholarship programs in place have been around since 1999 and as of 2009 they were set on being canceled. This has been a ongoing battle between the budgeting books, the law makers, and the students receiving the scholarship funds.
The scholarship funding itself would not be such a problem itself if it weren't for the upcoming needs. The State of Utah estimates that by 2020 55% of the new jobs will require an Associates degree or higher. As students try to get more a better education there is no doubt that scholarship budgets will continue to tighten.
<big> Scholarships Provided by the State of Utah </big>
New Century Scholarship: The New Century Scholarship encourages students to accelerate their education by earning an Associate’s degree in high school from an institution within the Utah System of Higher Education. The scholarship may be used at a 4-year public college or university within the Utah System of Higher Education, as well as at Brigham Young University-Provo and Westminster College.
Regents Scholarship: The Regents’ Scholarship encourages Utah high school students to prepare for college academically and financially by taking a core course of study and saving for college. The scholarship may be used at any public college or university in the Utah System of Higher Education, as well as at Brigham Young University-Provo, LDS Business College, and Westminster College.
<big> Private Scholarship Websites </big>
Utah Scholarship Guide: A website created by, and for, Utah students. Based off of the experience of multiple scholarship winners as well as students who did not earn scholarships. This website contains ACT resources, Scholarship information, Textbook saving tools, College Directory, and other useful resources. Utah Scholarship Guide was created in January of 2010 by several graduating seniors from American Fork High School.

www.uheaa.org: Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority. A financial aid information resource for Utah students and parents. This website also includes links to additional public scholarship resources, and student loan sources.
www.utahfutures.org: Utah Futures is an education and career related resource to help Utah students make better decisions concerning careers, majors, and scholarship information. Tools to do this include career interest surveys and a scholarship search tool. Utah Futures started in 2010.
www.higheredutah.org: HigherEdUtah is a website built to help present information concerning the scholarships provided to students in the state of Utah. This website also works, in part, conjunction with both uheaa.org and utahfutures.org.

UtahMentor.org A scholarship search by keyword, as well as a scholarship matching list.
UtahFutures.org A search that considers location, merits, and other specifications.
